Just a Note…

Hello!

This cute little turtle stamp I picked today is from an older stamp set by Woodware Craft Collection called Cheeky Turtle.

To start my card, I stamped the turtle onto some watercolor paper using the Intense Black ink from Simon Says Stamp.  I colored it with ZIG markers and experimented with water blending. For the body of the turtle I colored it in using two different shades of green, and I then took a watercolor brush to blend the colors together. I took a quick break to let it dry before I moved onto the shell so the colors wouldn’t mix together. For the shell I colored the outside edges brown, but I didn’t do any water blending on this part. I did do some blending with the watercolor brush for the lighter colors on the turtle. For the squares on his back, I took a light brown and a tan color, and blended them with the watercolor brush. For his belly I just used a light yellow.

After the turtle was finished, I picked out some patterned paper for the background that I thought matched well with the turtle. I die cut the polka-dot pattern, and the piece underneath it with the Hand-stitched Nested Rectangles from Whimsy Stamps die set, I just used two different sizes for each of them.

After that I made a banner using the Dimensional Banners die set from My Favorite Things with a piece of yellow patterned paper. I then stamped a sentiment on top of it from the Everyday Sayings stamp set from Hero Arts.

This card was fairly simple, so that was all the parts that I needed, all that was left was to attach everything to the card base.

First, I adhered the white polka-dot paper with the colorful strips on it to the card base, then attached the green polka-dot patterned piece next.

After that I adhered the yellow banner to the bottom of the green polka-dot piece. The final step was to attach the turtle using some foam tape, to give it dimension, right above the banner.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card… have a good day everyone!
